Why We Built This
It started in Istanbul.
I was looking for a yellow umbrella.
"My first time in Istanbul. I booked a free walking tour — I love those things. 11am, Sultanahmet Square. I showed up at 10:50 and started looking for the yellow umbrella. The square was packed. I circled the meeting point for 40 minutes. No umbrella. No tour. No signal to call anyone. By 11:30 I sat down on a bench and started Googling on two bars. Found some YouTube videos about the history of Constantinople. They kept buffering."
— Orlando, Founder of NomadrThat afternoon is actually where my love for walking tours took over. I thought about how good they are — the local perspective, the stories you'll never find in a guidebook, the random recommendations that become the best part of the trip. Then I thought about every other time I'd missed one. Couldn't find the meeting point. Fell behind the group. Was too wrecked from the night before to make it to the square at 9am. I searched for an app that could give me the same experience on my own schedule. There wasn't one. So I started building it.
Nomadr is the app that should have been there. GPS-triggered tours that start the moment you arrive at a landmark. Rich stories, tips, and history — delivered exactly when you need them. No guide required.
